1. What is the DTV Visa?
The Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) is an exciting new opportunity for foreigners to work, stay, or travel in Thailand for 5-year. It is specifically designed for digital nomads, remote workers, and individuals participating in activities e.g., traditional Thai martial arts (Muay Thai), Thai cooking classes, sports training, medical treatments, seminars, and music events.
Please note that this visa is exclusively for foreigners holding an employment contract from abroad or their home country.
DTV visa also includes the spouse and dependent children of the DTV holder. This visa allows foreigner (individuals) to manage their overseas businesses while immersing themselves in the vibrant culture of the country.
CONDITIONS FOR STAY AND EXTENSIONS
The DTV visa allows foreign nationals to work remotely or as freelancers in Thailand for up to 180 days, with an option to extend their stay for an additional 180 days. However, after the first year, the DTV visa holders need to leave the country but can re-enter for another 180 days, with extensions available for up to 5 years. This policy launched on 15 July 2024, the visa is designed for digital nomads and remote workers, offering multiple entries and promoting participation in Thai soft power initiatives as follows:
(1) Workcations (Digital nomads, remote workers, foreign talent, and freelancers).
(2) Thai soft power activities: For example, Muay Thai training, Thai culinary courses, medical treatment, seminars, music festivals, and sports training.

REQUIREMENTS
- Passport validity: The applicant's passport must remain valid for a minimum of six months beyond the intended exit date from Thailand.
- Financial proof: Evidence of financial means amounting to at least THB 500,000 (e.g., bank statement, pay slip, or sponsorship letter).
- Proof of Employment or Business Ownership: The applicant must provide documentation that verifies their employment status or ownership of a business outside of Thailand. Employment with a company in Thailand is prohibited under this visa.
- Employment Documentation: An employment contract or certificate from their country, or a professional portfolio showcasing status as a digital nomad, remote worker, foreign talent, or freelancer.
- Age Requirement: Applicants must be at least 20 years of age at the time of application.
2. 60-Day Visa for Necessary, Urgent, or Ad-hoc Work
The 60-Day Visa is designed for tourism as well as short-term business purposes, allowing travelers to address necessary, urgent, or ad-hoc work needs while visiting Thailand.
Thailand has announced an exciting new policy aimed at welcoming international travelers. Effective from 15 July 2024, citizens from 93 countries will have the opportunity to enter the kingdom either without a visa or with a visa on arrival, permitting stays of up to 60 days per visit. This includes visitors from 57 nations, such as the United States, Japan, and several European countries, who benefit from visa waivers.
Additionally, travelers from 13 nations, including India and Kazakhstan, previously limited to 30-day entries, can now enjoy the extended 60-day stay. Visa waiver benefits have also been introduced for 6 new countries, such as China and Russia, while 17 others, including Jordan, Sri Lanka, and Ecuador, can now obtain visas on arrival for stays of up to 60 days.
3. Visa on Arrival Update
VISA ON ARRIVAL (VOA) is for the purpose of tourism which is designed to enhance the travel experience for international visitors.
Available to citizens of select countries, this visa allows travelers to present the necessary documentation upon arrival and receive their visa at the immigration counter without the need to apply in advance, ensuring a quick and straightforward entry into the country. Effective from 15 July 2024, the list of countries eligible for Visa on Arrival has recently expanded from 19 to 31 countries and territories, offering even more travelers the opportunity to enjoy this convenient option.

4. "New 'ED PLUS' Visa
The Non-Immigrant “ED PLUS” visa is issued to international students studying at higher education institutions in Thailand, at a level not lower than a bachelor's degree. This policy will be effective on 15 July 2024. While studying, students are exempt from applying for a re-entry permit when leaving and re-entering Thailand. Additionally, if an extension of stay is required, the educational institution will handle the extension request on behalf of the student.
CONDITIONS FOR STAY AND EXTENSIONS
Universities and institutions will submit the application for the extension of stay on behalf of the students. Upon graduation, foreign students are presented with the opportunity to extend their stay in Thailand for 1 year, allowing them to seek employment, travel, or engage in other activities. Furthermore, they become eligible to apply for a new type of visa in Thailand once they secure employment.
